Timber Tracking

Our world-leading expertise and state-of-the-art forensics facility can help you determine the identity and origin of your timber.

DNA forensics technology takes the guesswork out of building sustainable timber supply chains.

Over the past two decades, our group has become a leading player in timber tracking worldwide. We actively develop and utilise the latest DNA barcoding methods to determine the species and source-of-origin of timber.

Operating out of the University of Adelaide’s Advanced DNA Identification and Forensics Facility (ADIFF), our team develops unique genetic markers to build screening tools for a wide range of globally traded species.

Our clients include international government agencies, forest certification companies, private companies, and NGOs.

We conducted an Australia-wide DNA testing program for imported timber.
